Walter “McRay” Lentz, III, 23, of Ty Ty passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023, in Rochelle. A graveside funeral service will be held for McRay at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at the family farm in Worth County (565 Holcomb Road, Ty Ty, GA 31795), where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. John Smith will officiate. Jason Womack, John Daniel Sledge, Madison Lentz and family and friends will give eulogies.
John Daniel Sledge, John Michael Brooks, Will Knight, Cain Cooper, Brandon Sapp, Nelson Clements, Jacob Roberson and Kevin Bell will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be linemen of Power Grid Services and Middle Georgia EMC.
McRay was born March 3, 2000, in Macon to Walter Jr. and Haley Irvin Lentz of Ty Ty. He graduated from Tiftarea Academy in 2020 and began working for Power Grid Service in December 2020. He was a member of Ty Ty First Baptist Church and he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Walter McRay Lentz, Sr. and Patricia Charlotte Lentz; and an uncle, Ty Irvin.
McRay was a friend to all and his adventurous personality and contagious smile left a memorable mark on many. He was hard-working and fun-loving and lit up any room he entered. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, grilling and checking cows. He could often be found somewhere on the “Big Block” with his friends, family and his two dogs, Mable and Chubb.
In addition to his parents, McRay is survived by one sister, Madison Claire Lentz of Ty Ty; and his maternal grandparents, Larry and Leany Irvin of Tifton.
