Barbara C. Robinson
...retired Bedford H.S. Science Teacher; 70
TEWKSBURY - Barbara C. (McCann) Robinson, age 70, a retired Bedford High School teacher,
died Sunday afternoon, June 11, at the Salem, NH, home of her daughter, surrounded by her
loving family. She had fought a courageous battle with cancer for more than a year. She was the
wife of Andrew J. Robinson, III, who died in February 2003.
She was born in Boston, on May 31, 1936, a daughter of the late James and
Catherine (Butler) McCann, and was raised in Medford. She graduated from Medford High
School earned her Bachelors Degree, a Master Degree and had worked toward her PhD, from both Tufts University and Boston College.
She was a high school science teacher for the Town of Bedford, Massachusetts, for more than 30 years.
She later worked for the Internal Revenue Service, in Andover, MA.
Mrs. Robinson enjoyed camping, trips to Old Orchard Beach in Maine, and trips to Foxwood
Casino in Connecticut. She was also a treasure hunter, fondly described by her family as having
spent hours and hours searching fields, beaches, and other places with her various metal
detectors.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and her husband George Coker, and
Julie and Kevin Galvin all of Salem, NH; three grandchildren, Jessica and Sydney Galvin, and
Terra Coker; and one great granddaughter, Emmaleigh.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, June 15, in St. William’s Church,
Tewksbury. Burial was at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the
Merrimack Valley VNA Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843 will be
appreciated.
