Charles E. Rouleau, Sr., 86

Dateline: Swansea, MA

Charles E. Rouleau, Sr., age 86, of Swansea, formerly of Taunton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 13, 2023. He was the beloved husband of the late Florence M. (Betts) Rouleau, to whom he was wed for nearly sixty-five years at the time of death on November 3, 2022.

Born in Taunton, MA on November 23, 1936, he was a loving son of the late Emile J., Sr. and Laura (Emerson) Rouleau.

Charlie grew up in Taunton and was a graduate of Bristol County Agricultural High School. For forty-two years, he served in United States Army Reserve. Prior to retiring, Charlie was the proud owner of Rouleau Roof Co., a company he owned and operated for forty years, retiring in 1993.

A fulltime resident of Swansea for the past thirty-one years, Charlie was a member of the First Christian Congregational Church in Swansea. His involvements included being an active member of King David Masonic Lodge in Taunton as well as other Masonic Lodges, a member of the Odd Fellow of which he served as a past Grand Master, a longtime member of the Taunton Kiwanis Club and a former fifty years of devotion with the Boy Scouts of America, Annawon Council. His favorites times by far were those spent in the presence of his loving family. Mr. Rouleau’s family will always remember the special interest he had of clowns.

He is survived by his devoted children: Charles E. Rouleau, Jr. and his wife Judith of Taunton, Laura L. Sherman and her husband Arnold of Taunton, Christopher E. Rouleau and his wife Khara of Taunton and Jonathan J. Rouleau and his wife Paula of Taunton. Cherished grandfather of Trisha Tokarz, Mallory Medeiros and her husband Tyler, Christopher and Corey Rouleau, Matthew and Emily Rouleau and great grandchildren Ethan, Avery and Brayden Tokarz, Jake and Leila Medeiros. He was the dear brother of Beverly A. Anslow and her husband Malcolm of Taunton and the late Emile J. Rouleau, Jr. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday, May 16th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.

An Odd Fellow service will be conducted on Tuesday evening during visitation at 6:30 P.M. In the funeral home.

A Masonic Service will be conducted on Tuesday evening during visitation at 7:00 P.M. ln the funeral home.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 17th at 10 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton.

In lieu of flowers, Charlie’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the First Christian Congregational Church, 1113 GAR Highway, Swansea, MA 02777.
