Donald B. “Don” King, 84, of Tifton passed away Friday, May 12, 2023, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Craig Nalls officiating. Mr. King will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Wes Mims, Scott Mims, Matthew Martinez, Scott Blankenship, Austin King and Steve Blankenship will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 26, 1939, in Tifton, Mr. King was the son of the late Charles Bailous King and Mildred Cavender King. Before retiring from the Georgia Department of Transportation after 34 years, Mr. King also served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Boxer.
Mr. King is survived by his wife of 28 years, Catherine King of Tifton. He was the father of four children, the late Donald King Jr. and son, Billy A. King of Tifton; two daughters, Janet Lynn King of Valdosta, Donna Martinez and son-in-law, Rick Martinez of Chula; brother-in-law, Ray Miller of Tifton; two step-sons, Steve and Scott Blankenship of Valdosta; fourteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
