Patricia A. Paolantonio (Browne), 88, of Buratti Road, Johnston, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 6th with her family by her side at the Hospice Intake Center in Providence.
Born in Bristol Connecticut, Pat was the eldest daughter of the late Joseph C. and Anne F. (Roskosky) Browne of Scituate, RI. She lived in Johnston for over 50 years.
“Mrs. P” as she was known to the countless students whose lives she impacted throughout her teaching career, and "Patsy" to her colleagues and close friends, was a dedicated teacher and administrator whose career spanned over four decades. Pat's dedication to the art of teaching encompassed grades Pre-K through adult education classes.
After graduating from Rhode Island College, Pat began her teaching career at Calef Middle School in Johnston as a social studies teacher. Her teaching career continued at Johnston High School where she retired as an administrator of the English, Social Studies and Foreign Language departments after 35 years of dedicated service.
After retirement, Pat took a position at Saint Pius V School as librarian, soon ascending to the position of principal. She later dedicated her time and devotion to adult education before finalizing her lifelong devotion to teaching.
When not teaching, Pat enjoyed cooking - an artistry she mastered, and from which her family benefitted - particularly around the holidays. She was an impassioned reader and dedicated learner her entire life, and during retirement enjoyed travelling, golfing, and spending time by the seaside with her family and friends.
Always central to her life were her family and many friends. Her greatest joy during her fulfilling life was her two granddaughters, Jordan Marie and Jayde Olivia Paolantonio.
Pat was the loving mother and mother-in-law of David John and Ashley M. (McCaughey) Paolantonio; sister of Andrea L. Richardson of Covington, LA and the late Eleanor J. Chippendale. She was “Aunty Pat” to nieces Anne Spinelli, Patricia Connor and nephews Michael and William Chippendale, and Robert Conley. She also leaves many great and great-greats whom she loved dearly.
