Obituary

Barbara Jean Goddard Kinard, 82, of Tifton passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie, surrounded by her family. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Tim Luke and the Rev. Carlton Goddard officiating. Mrs. Kinard will be laid to rest at Lenox City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 11, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.

Brian Casarez, Craig Massey, Malcolm Robertson, David Harlow, Dayton Casarez, Paul Kinard and Tyler Flakes will serve as pallbearers.

Born October 19, 1940, in Tifton, Mrs. Kinard was the daughter of the late Jessie Ray Goddard and Flonnie Mae Gossett Goddard. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Richard Veron “Daddy Rich” Kinard, Sr.; three brothers, J.R. Goddard, Hoyle Goddard and Ralph Goddard; and two sisters, Shirley Freeman and Inez Luke. She was a homemaker, but before retiring, had worked at J.P. Stevens, Queen Carpet, Texture Tex, G.C. Murphy’s and for Child Support Recovery. She was an active member of Tifton’s First Assembly of God since 1963 and her family was her life.

Mrs. Kinard is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Terry Kinard and Robbie and Alita Kinard, all of Tifton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rhonda and Steve Walker of Tifton, Reba and Doug Perkins of McRae and Valerie Rose Robertson of Ty Ty; one brother and sister-in-law, Carlton and Paula Goddard of Kathleen; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Marie and Jimmy Abell and Kathleen Goddard, all of Tifton; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Angel and Paul Slocumb of Thomasville, Paul and Karen Kinard of Tifton, Brian and Brittany Casarez of Waynesboro, Nikki and Craig Massey of Tifton, Britney Harnage of Ty Ty, Malcolm Robertson of Ty Ty, Tori Kinard and Ryan Kinard, both of Tifton; and 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild, who she loved with all of her heart and from the heart of her bottom.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial gifts may be made to the Sibley Heart Center at Children’s Hospital in Atlanta, 2835 Brandywine Road #400, Atlanta, GA 30341, in honor of Mrs. Kinard’s grandson, Victor Ryan Kinard.
