New Bedford - Gilbert Baptiste, died Friday, June 9, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Adeline (Correia) Baptiste. He was the father of Deborah Aguiar and Joseph Baptiste both of Dartmouth, and Paul Baptiste of New Bedford. He was the brother of the late Mary Souza and Trinity Cabral. Mr. Baptiste is also survived by long time companion and caregiver-Julie Marshall of New Bedford, and a niece.
Mr. Baptiste was born in New Bedford the son of Martin and Virginia (Teixeira-Neves) Baptiste. He lived in this area all of his life. He was employee as a mason for John Souza and Sons, and later for the City of New Bedford. Mr. Baptiste was an Army Veteran of WWII
Mr. Baptiste Funeral will begin at Perry Funeral Home,111 Dartmouth St, New Bedeford on Tuesday at 8:45 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julie Billiart Church, Dartmouth at 10 A.M. Visiting hours will be Monday from 6 to 9 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. In lieu of Flowers donations may be made to the MAKE A WISH Foundation.
