Obituary

DANVERS - Robert M. Carr, 89, husband of Sally A. (Bakszycki) Carr, of Danvers, formerly of Salem, died Thursday, June 8, 2006 in the Beverly Hospital.

Son of the late Martin and Catherine (Hurley) Carr, Robert was born in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School. He was a resident of Salem until moving to Danvers in the early 1980's

Prior to his retirement in 1980, he was employed by Bell Telephone for 35 years. Prior to his military service in WWII, he worked for Sylvania Electric in Salem. During his retirement years, he devoted many hours to doing volunteer work with the Perkins School for the Blind.

A Navy veteran of WWII, he served from 1942 to October 1945 and attained the rating of Radioman first Class.

Mr. Carr was an avid golfer and was a former member of the Salem Country Club.

Besides his wife, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage, he is survived by his daughter Patricia Erickson and grandson S. Arvid Erickson III, both of South San Francisco, California; and by his sisters Eleanor Landers of Beverly and Marie Moran of Salem. He was the brother of the late Ruth Powers and Genevieve Cunningham.

His funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 10 am in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. A visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 9 to 10 am, prior to the service. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial is in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
