Obituary

Lotte Erika (Gafert) Moulton, 88, a longtime Lowell and Dracut resident, passed away on Tuesday, April 18 after a long illness at her home in Dracut. She was the widow of James Moulton who passed away in 2016 after 28 years of marriage.

Born on November 22, 1934 in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Max Gafert and the late Marie Gafert. Her formative years were spent receiving an education and upbringing in Germany until 1956 when she immigrated to the United States and settled in Lowell. She began her career as a housekeeper and took on various roles throughout her professional journey. Her hard work and dedication led her to a 10-year tenure at MACOM, where she eventually retired.

Lotte loved to travel, and traveled all over the world including several trips back to Germany. Her favorite place to visit though was Old Orchard Beach in Maine. She also loved to play bingo.

She is survived by her children, Joanie Bernes of Lowell, Helen Manseu and her husband, Fred, of New Hampshire, Harold Bernier and his wife, Joyce, of Lowell, Richard Bernier and his wife, Dottie, of Dracut, Raymond Bernier of Lowell, Lisa Patenaude of Lowell and Christina Burgess of Dracut, 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, she is also survived by Shana Paduano.

She was also the mother in law of the late Stanley Bernes and the late Michael Patenaude.

At her request, her funeral services were held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that memorial donations in her name be made to a charity of one’s choice.
