Obituary

Melvin Edward Naylor
(September 17, 1939- April 22, 2023)

WEST NEWFIELD- Melvin passed away peacefully at the Gosnell House in Scarborough, Maine on Saturday, April 22. His battle with cancer was brief, but he decided to live his final days to the fullest. Those final days were filled with family visits, flirting with the nursing staff, watching cartoons, and listening to his favorite country music. A steady stream of faces he loved filled the room around his bed, but in the end, it was Mildred who was by his side.

Mel loved to travel, whether it was driving cross country in a van with two kids and a dog, taking the back roads on his Harley, or flying to the Dominican Republic with old friends from work, he meandered a long and winding road that lead to good times, great friends, and to the lives of many who will never forget him. Mel enjoyed playing the guitar, winning at cards, camping, and the ocean. He was always the first one to swim on his annual Memorial Day camping trip to Old Orchard Beach. The friends and loved ones who share those good times will cherish the memories he left behind.

He was a long time member of the Eagles Club and the Wolf’s Club. He was a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club. He loved the outdoors and he appreciated the natural landscapes our country provides. Mel loved animals and his life was enhanced by the ever present companionship of pet birds, dogs, and cats.

Mel was born to Julia and Oliver Naylor in Winchester, NH on September 17, 1939. He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Janice and Nancy, his brother, Gary, and his grandson, Kip Fenoff.

He is survived by his brother, Joe Naylor of Lisbon, NH, his sister, Jeannie Cheney of Littleton, NH., his daughters, Leota Robinson of Littleton, NH, Barbara Anderson of Leesville, SC, and Penny Mills of Shapleigh, ME., his Grandchildren, Kotie Fenoff, Jessica Dreves, Robyn Bragdon, Michael Arsenault, Brian Armentino, and Conan Mills, multiple great grandchildren and one great, great grand-daughter.

A celebration of life will be held at Trailblazers Family Club, 102 Bills Ln in Wells ME from 12:00-3:00pm on Saturday, May 27th. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wolves Club, 40 High St, Sanford, ME 04073. Online condolence messages can be submitted at www.mainefuneral.com.
