Louis J. (Buddy) Geer, Jr. 85, of Franklin, passed away on April 19, 2023, after a short illness.
Buddy was born on May 5, 1937, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, to the late Louis J. Geer, Sr. and Lydia (Cadima) Geer.
After high school Buddy enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served for 4 years as a Corpsman in the Navy and Marines, before being honorably discharged in 1959.
In 1960 Buddy met his wife, Joan M. (Pecci) Geer at a dance in Rhode Island, and they shared 61 years of marriage.
Buddy and Joan went on to have two children, Stephen L. Geer and his fiancé Kathy Goddard and Julianne (Geer) McDonnell and her husband David both of Franklin.
Buddy co-owned and operated Sneakers N’ Stuff in Franklin and four surrounding towns. In 1992 Buddy went on to join the Norfolk County Sherriff’s Department where he stayed until his retirement in 2002.
Buddy loved spending his Saturday’s at Fred’s shed and vacationing to Arizona and Marco Island with his best friends. He spent his last years with family at his Cape house. Visiting friends at the Franklin Elks and listening to Frank Sinatra.
In addition to his wife and children, Buddy is survived by his cherished grandchildren Sean McDonnell, Nicole McDonnell, & Cameron, Kyle and Andrew Geer, a sister, Marjorie (Geer) Kafalas and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Monday April 24th, at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Church Square at 10AM.
Interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery will be held privately.
