Obituary

EAST LONGMEADOW - Francois E. Gaumond, 76, of East Longmeadow, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, April 8, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on August 12, 1946, a beloved son of the late Edmond and Marie Rose (Allie) Gaumond. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Springfield Technical High School and lived in the city for many years before moving to East Longmeadow where he lived the remainder of his life. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force. He was a longtime school bus driver for First Student and retired from Peter Pan Bus Lines in Springfield. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the American Legion Post 420, both in Springfield. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many dear friends. He was predeceased by his beloved fiancée, Therese M. "Terry" Rogers who was Called Home on August 9, 2021. He leaves his four loving children, Raymond P. Gaumond and his fiancée, Taralynn Mackin, of Springfield, Butch Morris and his wife, Cindy, of Olathe, KS, Christine Gaumond of Washington, and Tina Schwind-Gaumond and her husband, Jeff Schwind; his brother, Leon Gaumond and his wife, Doris, of Springfield; his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren; his beloved goddaughter, Colette Haskell; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended family members. His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. His Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. prior to his Mass.
