Joel Norman Monroe York

Joel Norman Monroe York, 56, of Anderson passed away at his residence on April 12, 2023 after a brief illness.
Joe was born July 6, 1966 in Anderson, the son of Norman and Wilma J. (Smith) York. He lived in Anderson most of his life. He graduated from Highland High School in 1984. He was in the marching band and heavily involved in the drama club.
Joe had many different jobs through the years. His favorite was being a ring announcer. He traveled in and out of Indiana announcing boxing and MMA fights. He also announced fights for ESPN and HBO earlier in his career.
He is survived by his mother, Wilma J. (Jeanie) York of Anderson; daughter Chelsea (Bobbie Sue) York of Anderson; son, Wyatt Hamilton; sister Amy (Tom) Roberts of Daleville; two brothers, Mark (Leanne) York of Remington and Mike York of Anderson. Nieces and nephews, Krystal (Roger) DeRozier, Andy (Beth) Roberts, Craig (Alyssa) Roberts, Jaime (Caleb) Ferguson, Leon Ellison, Lindsay York, Mary York and Lucas Williams. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Norman “Whitey” York; two sisters Suzi Williams and Mary Kay York.
A Celebration of Life will be held April 23, 2023 at 4:00 PM at the old Daleville Town Hall at 8019 S. Walnut St. Daleville, IN.
