John R. Hawkins, 62, of London Rd., Derry, NH died Sunday August 11, 2002 at his home. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 6, 1939, the son of the late Wesley E. and Doris (Barlow) Hawkins. Following high school he graduated from New England College, Henniker, NH. He served with the US Army. He had been employed for the US Postal Service, Manchester, NH and for Crum & Foster in Woburn, Mass., where he worked as an auditor. He was involved with the Boy Scouts and volunteered as a Scoutmaster. He also served as a Little League coach in Derry.
He is survived by his wife, Linda M. (Axon) Hawkins, Derry, two daughters, Cheryl Judge, Derry, Kelly Judge, Hooksett, NH, one son, Sean Judge, Seattle, Wash., and two nieces.
Friends may call on Wednesday August 14th from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. The burial will be in the Bunker Hill Cemetery in Saxton, Penn. Graveside services will be handled by the Long Funeral Home, Saxton, Penn. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Giving Program, Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 State Rte. 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110-5032 (Earmark for lung cancer research).
