Julia T. (Miranda) Platt, 76, of Westport passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Catholic Memorial Home. She was the wife of the late William H. Platt Jr., they shared 56 years of marriage. She was born in Fall River, daughter of the late Frank and Beatrice (Carvalho) Miranda.
Julia graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1964, successfully completed Diman Regional Technical Institute's Medical Assistant's program in 1970 and earned her certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants in 1972. She was the office manager of Obstetrical Associates in Fall River for more than 20 years.
Julia loved to sing and play guitar especially to the children. She enjoyed cooking, crafting, sewing and gardening, the beaches, boating and quahogging in the Westport River, traveling, but most of all spending time with her family and friends.
Julia loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family was her most important possession. The love from her husband and family, the kindness and caring of good friends and her faith and trust in a loving God helped her throughout her lifetime.
Survivors include her 2 sons: William H. Platt III and his wife Tina of Westport and Brian D. Platt of Westport; her sister: Joyce Berube of ME; 4 grandchildren: Mark, Rachel, William IV and Julie; 3 great grandchildren: Alexis, Joshua and William V; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Francine Russell.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, April 20, 2023 at St. George Church, Westport at 11:00 A.M.
Visitation will be Thursday, at the Potter Funeral Home from 9-10:30 A.M., prior to the Mass.
Interment will be private.
