James Wallace Polito, age 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2023 in palliative care at home in Yarmouthport, Mass.
Born in Boston, Mass. on December 6, 1957. He was the son of the late Vincent D. Polito and Evelyn M. Polito (Young).
Pre-deceased by sister-in-law Lisa Ann Potts-Polito, December 2016.
Jimmy was raised in Somerville, Mass. with his 3 siblings Janet, Bobby and Vinnie.
Jim was a graduate of Malden Catholic H.S. class of 1975.
Jim attended Cornell University and graduated with honors in 1979.
Jim did post graduate work at the University of Chicago studying Ancient History.
Jim’s first job after finishing school was teaching at Nazareth Academy in Wakefield.
Jim was a government employee for 30 plus years with most of his time at HUD.
Jim was instrumental with many HUD projects and he received various awards throughout his career.
Jim was a certified “Chinese Martial Arts Tai Chi Teacher”.
Jim hosted the “Wednesday night social” at his home for many years!
Jim was involved with various charitable organizations prior to his passing.

sister Janet Polito of Yarmouthport, Mass. and spouse (Mario Gonzalez) brother Bob Polito of Baltimore, MD. and spouse (Janice Bicchieri) brother Vincent Polito of NYC and spouse (Eileen Polito), nephew Christian Polito of Herndon, VA. Niece Francesca Polito of Herndon, VA. Dog Carla of Melrose, Mass. Bird Skittles of Melrose, Mass.
Funeral Saturday, April 29, 2023. Family and friends will meet for a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 770 Salem Street, Malden, Mass. Immediately following A Celebration of Life will occur at Anthony’s Restaurant, 105 Canal Street, Malden, Mass.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
