Robert E. “Pops” Holland, Sr., 80, passed away peacefully among family on Wednesday, June 7, 2006. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Delores (Brockney) Holland; 8 children, Frederick Ekstrom, Bernard, Robert Jr., Sharon, Dennis, Kevin, Joseph, and Keith Holland, their wives; 2 brothers, Leslie and Orace Holland; 30 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. “Pops” also leaves numbers of friends who loved him. He is now reunited with two of his children, William and Faith, who preceded him into glory.
He was born and educated in Worcester, son of Joseph E. and Eva (Green) Holland. He PROUDLY served in the United States Navy during WWII. For the last ten years, he worked tirelessly at the Lighthouse Mission on Pleasant Street in Worcester providing food and support for the neighborhood needy. “Pops” will be remembered always and deeply missed by all.
