Obituary

Faith, Family and fun, those were the words Irene lived by. For eight decades Irene lived, loved and laughed her way through life.
Irene M. Lawler, 81, of Woonsocket died peacefully Tuesday April 11, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late James A. “Jimbo” Lawler, Sr. Irene and Jim were married for many years until his passing in 2004.
Born in Boston and raised in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood she was a daughter of the late John and Josephine (Hogan) Morrow. Irene lived for several years in Bellingham and was a resident of Woonsocket since 1980.
Irene worked at Miller Electric for several years. She was later employed for over 20 years at Creed Rosary Company in Wrentham before retiring.
Irene was very talented at crocheting. She enjoyed camping and playing bingo. Irene was a self-professed “Junk Food Junkie”. She just loved her goodies!!! As far as Irene is concerned there better be Nutty Bars and strawberry ice cream in heaven, or else!! Special memorable times for Irene were family vacations to Florida.
Irene was a selfless and generous person. She gave of herself unceasingly for many years as the primary caregiver for her mother and other family members. Irene always put her children first ahead of her own needs.
Irene was a very devout Catholic and her faith was an integral part of her life. It is of special comfort to the family that Irene was called home to the Lord on Easter Tuesday.
Irene is survived by her sons James A. Lawler, Jr. and his wife Katherine of Blackstone, Darren M. Lawler and his wife Lori of Woonsocket and David J. Lawler and his wife Kristy of Uxbridge, and her daughter Mary Margaret Dunton and her husband Robert of Woonsocket. She was the mother of the late Christina Remillard and Debra Lawler.
