Obituary

Eileen R. Altieri, a life long resident of Brockton, died peacefully on April 4, 2023 in the home of her daughter surrounded by love and admiration for a life filled with joy. Eileen was the devoted wife of Charles Altieri for 64 years and was the daughter of Teresa and John Tutty.
Following graduation from Brockton High School in 1951, Eileen earned a BA at Bridgewater State College, followed soon after with a Masters in Education. Her life long career as a teacher began at the Huntington School in Brockton. In later years she taught at Downey Elementary School and North Junior High School. Long after her retirement in 1997, Eileen still had many students who often reached out to her sharing stories of how she changed their lives.

After retiring, Eileen spent her free time traveling with Charlie and their many friends to St. Maarten and Naples, Florida, with especially memorable trips to Ireland and Egypt. Her favorite past time, when not with her grandchildren was tending to her beautiful gardens around her home. She was also a devoted volunteer at the Good Samaritan Hospital. In her later years, she enjoyed weekly Sunday Mass, followed by brunch with her grandson, Sam.

Eileen will be remembered for always bringing beauty, grace and little sparkle wherever she went. She had amazing empathy for others and always saw the best in people. She loved her family and friends deeply and was devoted to her faith in God.
Eileen was the mother of Charles Altieri (with partner Tim Conway), Jr. of Hyannis; Mary Nardone (with spouse John Nardone) of Fairfield, CT and the late John Altieri. She leaves four grandsons: John, Nicholas, Samuel and Alec Nardone. She was the sister of the late Lorraine Holmes and the aunt to her devoted nephew, George Brouthers. She leaves behind the best circle of girlfriends, anyone could ever want.
