Matthew R. Pingree, 36, of Litchfield, NH, passed away Wednesday April 5, 2023, in the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 13, 1987 in Derry, NH, a son of Robert and Cynthia (Andrews) Pingree. He was a resident of Litchfield since 2019, formerly living in Londonderry and Derry. Matthew was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Derry, Class of 2005, attended UNH from 2006-2011, and then worked for Raytheon for 12 years.
Matt, Matty, Pingree, Pings, Bear Cat, Matty Muffin, Cute, Love, Dada…Matt had many nicknames but he also carried the titles of being a loving father to Isla, a husband to Katie, a brother to Kayla, a son to Mark and Cindy, and teammate and friend to hundreds. Matt always had a way to make others smile and laugh. His personality was well-loved by all who met him. He had an indefinable quality that pulled people in, put them at ease, and made them feel safe. His one-of-a-kind personality and humor made any gathering he attended better just due to his presence. He gave the best hugs because you could just melt into him.
Matt was extremely knowledgeable about many topics. He inspired intelligent debate and loved to verbally spar with others, sometimes because he believed in something, other times to get a rise out of someone, but always because he enjoyed connecting with people.
His youthful adventures included hanging with his crew at Dane’s pool, playing 45s, and being involved in a variety of sports and activities either in a backyard or on a court! His most recent hobbies included playing video games with his friends, recreational target practice, spending time with his wife Katie and their beautiful fourteen-month-old, Isla, and visiting family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Katie (Joy) Pingree of Litchfield; his daughter, Isla Pingree of Litchfield, NH; his mother, Cynthia Pingree and father, Robert Pingree, both of Hooksett, NH, one sister, Kayla Pingree of Concord, NH; one niece, Rory Pingree-McCarthy, as well as many cherished extended family and friends.
Following cremation, friends may call on Saturday April 22, 2023 at 12pm for a celebration of Matt’s life at the First Parish Congregational Church, 47 E. Derry Rd., East Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a forthcoming cancer research fundraiser to be set up in his honor.
