Obituary

Richard J. “Rick” Piti, 68, of James Street, Glocester, passed away on Sunday April 2nd at RI Hospital, in Providence, with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Donna M. (Forte) Piti.

Born in Providence, the son of the late Joseph and Alice M. (English) Piti. He had lived in the Harmony section of Glocester for 39 years previously living in Smithfield.

He had worked with his father at Piti Construction Company starting as a teen until his accident in 1992.

Richard had built and raced cars “car 54” at Seekonk and Thompson speedway. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and attending live races in Daytona. He liked to travel, spend days at the ocean, and had a big heart for animals. Richard treasured time spent with his family.

Besides his wife Donna, he leaves his children, Joseph R. Piti of Clarksville, TN, Melissa B. Korsak of Cranston, Olivia K. Piti of Coventry, Alexandra L. Guertin of West Warwick, and Christen M. Swanson of Smithfield. Rick was a proud grandfather of 10. He was the brother of Kathleen Zange of Smithfield, Cheryl D’Alessio of Smithfield, Debra LaButti of Glocester, and Gerard Wagner of Johnston.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday April 12th at 10am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Smithfield. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Tuesday April 11th from 4-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville.
