Obituary



Mary M. (King) O’Connor, of Middleboro (formerly of Brockton), passed away peacefully at the age of 82 surrounded by her loving family at her home on April 2, 2023. She fought a hard and courageous battle against cancer. Mary was the loving and devoted wife of Thomas E. O’Connor for 61 years. Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Fitzmaurice) King.

Mary was a 1958 graduate of St. Patrick High School and a 1960 graduate of D’Youville Hospital formerly the Holy Ghost Hospital School of Nursing in Cambridge. She started her nursing career in the Brockton Hospital Nursery and then went on to work for Brockton Ob-Gyn Associates with Dr. Hassett and Dr. Ramaswami until her retirement in 2005.

Full of life, she was a strong and honest Irish woman who loved her dancing and Irish music. She was dedicated to her husband and family and was known to keep a watchful and loving eye on all the neighborhood kids.

Mary was a longtime member of Ireland’s Own and the Oak Point Golf and Bowling Leagues. She cherished all the moments she spent laughing and having fun with her many friends and family. She especially enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren’s sporting events and dance recitals.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Thomas O’Connor and his wife Tammy, Michael O’Connor and his wife Maureen, and Mary Amirault and her husband Rich all of Raynham. She was the devoted grandmother of Tom, Tim, Shane, Owen, Patrick and Keegan O’Connor and Siobhan and Richie Amirault. She was the sister of Ann Zimmerman and her husband Peter of Sunderland, MA; Frances Jones and her husband Kevin of Raynham; Paula King of Fort Lauderdale, FL and the late Edward and Francis P. King. Mary is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rt. 123) Brockton on Tuesday, April 11, from 4 - 8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:45am for a Funeral Mass at St. Ann Church, Raynham at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater, MA.
