Clebert Daniel of Everett passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the age of 62. Mr. Daniel immigrated to the United States from Haiti 34 years ago and resided in Everett, Massachusetts, where he has lived since the late 2000s. Daniel was a chef at Brigham and Women's Hospital, where he diligently worked for the past two decades. He was looking forward to retiring in just a couple of years.
After attending college in Port-au-Prince, Mr. Daniel came to the United States at the age of 28 to escape the consequences of the Duvalier regime, specifically Haiti's declining economic and health conditions.
When he was not working, he enjoyed gardening and even planted flowers for his neighbors. Daniel also liked creating home improvement projects. Though his initial projects often failed to improve the home, like many areas of his life, he never stopped perfecting his craft. He was fluent in English, Haitian Creole, and Spanish and would learn another language if someone told him he couldn't.
Daniel was a strong proponent of education and even managed to send his children to parochial school, despite the financial strain on a relatively new immigrant. One of his proudest accomplishments was putting his daughter through law school. He died believing that hard work and perseverance were necessary to succeed, but that education was the only trait one could not invalidate.
Clebert Daniel loved his family, took great pride in caring for his loved ones, and will be deeply missed. Mr. Daniel was predeceased by his beloved parents, Cedieu and Marilia Daniel. He is survived by his children, Robenson and Kelly, and many brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandson.
Viewing hours will be on Thursday April, 13, 2023, from 6-8 P.M. in the Joseph Russo Funeral Home, 814 American Legion Highway, Roslindale, Ma. A Funeral Mass will be on Friday April, 14, 2023, at 10 A.M. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1548 Blue Hill Ave, Mattapan.
Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, 95 Forest Hills Ave, Jamaica Plain, Ma..
