Obituary

Kathleen “Kathy” M. (Fenech) Pellegrini passed away peacefully at home after a long, valiant battle with cancer with her loving son Michael at her bedside.

Kathy was born October 28, 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts. She was raised in Dorchester and attended Dorchester schools, graduating from Dorchester High School.

Kathy’s greatest joy in life was family. She was the youngest of six siblings and her proudest life achievement was her son, Michael.

Kathy never met a stranger. Her personality, like a fine bottle of champagne, was effervescent and bubbly and it drew people to her.

Her laugh was vivacious and unforgettable. Kathy knew many people, but kept her social circle small and close to her heart. She was compassionate and kind and if you were lucky enough to be in her tight knit circle, you were blessed.

Kathy was a true friend who held the bond of friendship sacred. She was funny and refreshingly honest. She would let you know exactly what she was thinking, even if you didn't want to hear it. Kathy was frequently described as a “pistol” and although she was petite in stature, her quick wit and one liners created a party atmosphere whenever she entered a room. Her bright blue eyes could help guide you through the darkest of storms. Her motherly advice was comforting and always made you feel as though everything was going to be okay.” Life is short; enjoy it now while you can” was one of Kathy’s favorite sayings and it was the way she lived each and every day.

After a difficult medical diagnosis, Kathy’s final wish was to remain home. In conjunction and with the support, diligent medical guidance and care of her Hospice team, this wish was fulfilled with the love, dedication and tireless efforts of her son Michael and her niece Cheryl.

Kathy is survived by her son Michael Rizza of Las Vegas, formerly of Raynham, and his faithful dog, Sabrina, her sister Joan Wood of Braintree, her sister-in-law Meredith Fenech of Bridgewater and several nieces and nephews.

Kathy is predeceased by her parents John B. Fenech and Dorothy F. (McWhirk) Fenech, her brothers Henry (Bobby) Fenech and John Fenech Jr. and her sisters Gwendolyn (Gwen) Anderson and Dorothy (Dottie) Dyke.

Funeral services and burial will be private.
