Obituary

Margaret Sas of 358 Wyassup Road died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on her 92nd birthday, June 7, 2006.

She was born in Vitka, Hungary on June 7, 1914 the daughter of Charles Koncz and Mary Szabo Koncz.

Margaret immigrated to the United States from Hungary in 1938 and lived for a short while with her aunt Esther in central New Jersday. It was there that she met the love of her life Alex Sas at a Hungarian Club Picnic. They married in New Brunswick, NJ on March 29, 1941 and would go on to celebrate 60 wonderful years of marriage together. Alex passed away in 2001.

Margaret worked for many years as a seamstress primarily fashioning children’s clothing. As a young girl, she learned how to weave her own cloth and would then embroider it with classic and colorful Hungarian designs. As well as sewing, Margaret loved to cook and bake delicious Hungarian foods for family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Margie Olsen and son-in-law John Olsen, with whom she lived in North Stonington. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren Christine and her husband Danny of Dallas, Texas, Aaron and his wife Sara of San Diego, California and Ethan and his wife Leslie of Colleyville, Texas. She also is survived by one great grandson Logan Ronald of San Diego, CA.

She was predeceased by her son Ronald of Colleyville, Texas as well as 5 brothers, Menyus, Bela, Frank, Lazlo and John and one sister Elizabeth.

Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic, on Saturday from 10am-1pm and on Sunday from 5-7pm at Gleason Funeral 1360 Hamilton St, Somerset, NJ. Her funeral service will be conducted at the Magyar Reformed Church, New Brunswick on Monday at 10:30am. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick.
