Obituary

Geraldine A. (Poitrast) Fidler, 97, of Vero Beach, Florida, formerly of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023. She was the widow of the late Francis J. Fidler who passed in 2015 after 62 years of marriage.

Born November 24, 1925 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Poitrast & the late Mae Noonan Poitrast. She was raised and educated in that area.

Gerry, as she was affectionately known, was a long-time member of St. Williams Catholic Church in Tewksbury. She and her husband, Fran, loved traveling and attending their grandson, Victor’s hockey games. She also loved spending time with her friends, especially playing cards and traveling. She served in the banking industry as a teller for over 25 years before “retiring” and becoming the business administrator for a full service salon in Tewksbury.

Gerry had a unique way of connecting with others that made anyone who met her feel special, as if they were old friends. Her beloved children, grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her and she was so very proud of them.

In her retirement, along with her husband, Fran, she would assist in her grandson Victor's lessons at Landmark School in Beverly where he taught English. Fran, a WWII veteran, and she, a veteran's wife, would tell the students about their real world experiences during an unimaginable time in history. She made a big impression on some of those students and on most people who met her. Fran and Gerry were truly members of our greatest generation.

In addition to her parents and her beloved Fran, Gerry was preceded in death by her four brothers, Joseph, Walter, Francis & Warren.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce E. Fidler of Vero Beach, FL; grandchildren, Victor Fidler and wife Julie of Beverly, Lori Pimentel of Lowell; five great-grandchildren, Quinn Fidler, Colin Fidler, Jacqueline Medina and husband Eric, Allison Mixon and husband Sean, Danielle Tibbetts; five great-grandchildren, Juliana, Aria, Mila, Kayden & Jayce; and many other loving family & friends.
