Rita C. (Waters) Cobb, 71, died peacefully with her family and friends by her side on March 15, 2023. She was the wife of the late George M. Cobb.
Rita was born in Boston, a daughter of the late Paul and Rita (Anderson) Waters. She had spent her formative years in Quincy, MA. She had lived in Sudbury, MA for many years of her married life. Before her illness, Rita was a successful insurance executive in Boston for 20 years. After the loss of her husband George, she relocated to the village of Greenville in Smithfield, RI where she was able to be closer to her dear friends Karen and Jack Anderson. Over the years since then she made many new friends there.
Rita is survived by her stepchildren Deborah Cobb, Susan (Brian) Lombardi, and granddaughter Celia Lombardi; by her siblings Paul (Robyn) Waters, Anne (William) Connelly, and Jane (Richard) Finkel, as well as nieces Kaleen (Craig) Burley, Christine (Alex) Tarpey, Allison (Drew) Hemeon and nephews Chris and Mike Connelly, Timothy (Kate) Finkel, and Jeffrey (Blair) Finkel. Rita also leaves behind her dear friend and dance partner Carl Rimmler.
The family wants to thank her devoted friends Karen and Jack Anderson who helped her immensely and whom she loved dearly. They also want to express their appreciation to all the caregivers at The Village at Waterman Lake who were so attentive and caring to Rita.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday April 1st at 12noon in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Inurnment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
