Obituary

Donald Leo "Maxi" MacLean 81, of Franklin, passed away suddenly, Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Frances Helen (McCarthy) MacLean, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.

Donny grew up in Brighton, MA and graduated from Brighton High School in 1961. He attended Wentworth University as an engineering major. Donny also served in the Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970. He worked as an entrepreneur in environmental engineering for five decades. He first moved with his wife and family to Medfield, MA but later moved to Franklin in 1985 to continue raising his children. He was a long time member of the Franklin Elks and a passionate Franklin wrestling and football supporter. He was so incredibly proud of his family’s involvement in law enforcement and the military.

Donny is survived by his wife Franny and three brothers; Charles “Buddy” Maillet and wife Marilyn, Edward MacLean, and John MacLean and wife Barbara. He will always be bigger than life to his children and their spouses; daughter Margie and her husband Anthony Deady of Franklin, daughter Donna and husband Rob Callery of Hopkinton, Danny and Lyn MacLean of Franklin, and Joseph and Johnna MacLean of Franklin. He absolutely adored his grandchildren; Nicole, Dylan, Michael, Isabella, Caleb, Hannah, Olivia, and Tyler along with his nephews; Donny Maillet, John and Alex MacLean.

Donny had a larger than life personality who could slay with his sarcastic humor. He lived for a good laugh and loved to beat the odds at any casino. When asked, people in the family would describe our patriarch as loyal, caring, funny, brilliant, and compassionate.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Thursday, March 30th at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home at 33 Cottage Street followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 1 Church Square, Franklin, MA at 10AM.
