Gertrude (Cruz) Fermino, 89, of New Bedford died June 6, 2006 at Taber Street Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Peter F. Fermino.
Born in Mattapoisett, the daughter of the late Joseph and Isabella (Gonsalves) Cruz, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Fermino was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She was formerly employed by U.S. Ringbinder for over 20 years.
Mrs. Fermino enjoyed music, children and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Estella Rebeiro of Fairhaven; a son, Bruce Davis of Tacoma, WA; she was the proud grandmother of 5 granddaughters, Yvonne Murphy, Kelly Rebeiro, Tara Davis, Khepe-Ra Maat and Megan Rebeiro; she was the great-grandmother to Ashlee Andrade; she was a devoted aunt, great-aunt, godmother and outstanding community role model to many.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Friday, June 9th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Thursday, June 8th from 4-8 PM.
Interment St. John's Cemetery.
