Obituary

DUDLEY – Priscilla M. “Pat” (Anctil) Plaza, 91, died Saturday, March 18, 2023 in Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam with family at her side. Her husband of 61 years, Lawrence J. Plaza, died in 2012.

She leaves 3 children, Susan Schofield and her husband Jerry of Woodstock, CT, James Plaza and his wife Pamela of Putnam, CT, and Gail Alexander of Dudley; 6 grandchildren, Chad Schofield and his wife Amy, Stacey Kavanaugh-Schofield and her spouse Megan Kavanaugh, Travis Alexander and his wife Erica, Robert Lagrander and his wife Kelly, Lori Hallin and her fiancé Charles Meek, and Steven Snay and his wife Linda; 10 great-grandchildren, Scarlet, Ryan, Kate, Ava, Emma, Theodore, Delia, Aidan, Isabelle and Porter; a brother, Albert Anctil and his wife Judy of Charlton; a sister-in-law, Terry Anctil of Southbridge; many nieces and nephews; and special friends Mike and Mary Garceau of Woodstock, CT. She was preceded in death by her 4 sisters, Gloria Lindquist, Patricia Petro, Eleanor Nielson and Elaine Larochelle, by her 2 brothers, Pete and George Anctil, and by her grandson Nathan Plaza.

She was born on October 20, 1931, the daughter of Lorenzo and Anna (Arsenault) Anctil and lived in Dudley most of her life.

Mrs. Plaza first worked at Bates Shoe Company in Webster and then as a weaver at G. Thomas & Sons Company in North Grosvenordale, CT.

Priscilla liked to play the guitar, sing country music, dance, and listen to books on tape. She crocheted and knitted many quilts and slippers for her children. The whole family went camping on summer weekends for many years.

Pat owned a collection of Native American statues and pictures. She truly loved her home and as she got older spent time feeding and observing the many birds in her yard.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, at 11:00 AM in the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster. Burial will be in Saint Anthony’s Cemetery, Webster. A time of visitation will be from 9:30 AM to the time of the service on Wednesday in the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern CT, 32 South Main Street, Putnam, CT 06260.
