Thomas Wayne Peters, 1952 -2023

Thomas (Tom) Wayne Peters, age 70, resident of Francestown, NH died on March 13, 2023 after enduring a lengthy battle with an aggressive form of Vasculitis.

Tom believed in the continuous pursuit of learning and education; achieving three master degrees, in Math, E-Commerce and Computer Science. Before retiring, he was employed by Crico, located in Boston, Massachusetts. He loved his job and considered it an honor to be team member there.

Tom was an avid marathon runner. Running was considered one of his greatest passions in life. Tom completed 33 consecutive Boston Marathons. He was a member of the Boston Marathon’s Quarter Century Club, and Greater Lowell Road Runners. Tom would run and train for races in the streets of Lowell and Boston MA, and Francestown, NH in rain, wind, cold, heat, day and night. He was known all around town, as he would wave to every passing car while out on his runs.

Even while battling Vasculitis, and losing the majority of his eyesight from the disease, Tom continued to run. He ran his last three Boston Marathon’s against his family and doctors’ advice. Tom said, “If I die while running, I’m happy and did what I love to do.”

In addition to running, Tom enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. His hobbies included wood working and building items such as decks, furniture and a shed. He also loved going scuba diving with his daughter Kayley. He was a member of the Boston Aquarium’s Dive Club, and got to scuba dive in the giant ocean tank.

Tom was also very involved in his community. He volunteered for the Francestown Labor Day Grill for many years. He was a Sunday school teacher, and alter boy at Saint Patrick’s Church, in Bennington NH, and volunteered at running events with the Greater Lowell Road Runners.

Tom is survived by his partner Annette Peters; his daughters Kayley Peters and partner Hunter Ardehali; Emily Willey and husband Jonathan Willey, and beloved grandson Henry Willey. His siblings, Cynthia Ausiejus, James Peters and wife Vicki, Elizabeth Henry and husband Michael, Estelle Nunes, Mary Sordillo and husband Richard, Charles Peters, Andrew Peters and wife Wendy, and Margaret Peters, as well as his many nieces, nephews and friends. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Wayne and Jeanne Peters, and his brother-in-law, Edmond Nunes.
