Madelyn E. (Maine) Genovesi, 85, of 281 Hamilton Avenue, Norwich, formerly of Vernon, passed away Monday at Mary Elizabeth Nursing Center.
Mrs. Genovesi was born in Stonington on October 14, 1920 the daughter of the late Jesse J. and Eva Randall Maine. Raised in Stonington, she attended local schools and was a member of the last graduating class of the former Borough School.
She was employed at The University of Connecticut in the Banquet Department for 18 years before retiring. She was an avid NY Yankees Fan.
She was married to Julius S. Genovesi in August, 1959. He died December 15, 1997.
She is survived by her sister, Beverly Humphrey of Los Gatos, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her family members, James Maine, Jesse Maine, Eleanor D’Amico, Paula Kucena, Russell Maine, Lawrence Maine, and Dorothy McGowan.
Her family will gather privately for a service at Stonington Cemetery. There are no visiting hours. Donations may be made to the Amercian Cancer Society, 238 W. Town Street, Norwich CT 06360 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
