Obituary

Derith Ann (Gaboury) St. Jean, 80, of Providence, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2023 surrounded by her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Born in Attleboro, MA, she was the daughter of the late Beatrice (Kempton) Prince and Charles Gaboury. She was the youngest of 10 children and loved her brothers and sisters dearly, all who passed before her.

Derry was an avid reader who loved mysteries and psychological thrillers. She had a very creative imagination that made her a gifted storyteller, and a clever jokester who kept everyone on their toes. She loved to sing funny little songs with her grandchildren and put butter on their noses for their birthdays. She was also a starter of traditions and gave each and every one of her grandchildren and great grandchildren unique nicknames that will forever follow them. Derry absolutely loved celebrating Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day, a good yard sale, and searching for pussy willow and lilac bushes.

Derry dedicated her life to caring for and loving her grandchildren, helping those around her, and making people laugh. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her loving nature, hilarious sense of humor, and most of all her fighting spirit and unparalleled strength right to the end.

She joins her parents, siblings and son in heaven while leaving behind 2 daughters, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and her precious cat.

Her funeral to which family and friends are invited will be held on Saturday, March 18 at 12 noon from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI.

Her grandchildren have invited everyone to wear her favorite color green and attend a St. Patrick’s Day themed celebration in her honor immediately following her service.
