Obituary

Miguel Angel Ferrer, 58, of New Bedford died Saturday August 10, 2002 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Carmen (Rosa) Ferrer,and son of the late Genara Ortiz and Pedro Ferrer.

Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, he lived in Lancaster, PA for many years before moving to New Bedford in 1983.

He was a member of the Church of God, M.I.

Mr. Ferrer was formerly employed as a landscaper in the tree nursery business.

Mr. Ferrer served as a coach for the New Bedford Recreation Boxing Club on Hillman Street.

Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, Miguel Angel Ferrer, Jr. of Lancaster and Miguel Alexis Ferrer of New Bedford; 3 daughters, Nereida Ferrer of Lancaster, Giannin Matias and Jajaira Ferrer, both of New Bedford; 4 stepchildren, Ismael Rodriguez, Jr. of New Bedford, Carmen Lee Rodriguez and Luis Angel Rodriguez, both of Lancaster, and Evelyn Rodriguez of Hartford, CT; a sister, Iris Mendez of New York; 6 grandchildren; 9 stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His Committal Service will be held on Wednesday August 14, 2002 at 10 AM at Rural Cemetery, New Bedford. Visiting hours at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Tuesday evening 7-9 PM.
