CHICOPEE – Raymond J. Potvin, 80, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, March 4, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Springfield on October 3, 1942, a beloved son of the late Odina J. and Laurencia (Chapdelaine) Potvin. He was raised in Chicopee and lived in Aldenville for most of his life. He served his country in the Army National Guard. He was employed as a machine operator at the Westvaco Corporation in Springfield and Enfield and retired after 41 years of employment. Following his retirement, he worked as a parking attendant for Springfield Technical Community College. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend of 39 years, Simone L. (Boileau) Potvin. He also leaves his two loving sons, Raymond D. Potvin and David J. Potvin; his loving stepson, Allen E. Spenser; his cherished grandson, Justin Potvin; his three dear sisters-in-law, Cecile Durocher, Claire Minarik and Anna Potvin; his dear cousin and best friend, Richard Chapdelaine; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear brother, Donald Potvin. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 4 p.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
