Obituary

GRANBY – John F. Lanou, Jr., 52, of Granby, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, March 5, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on January 17, 1971, a son of Carlene Marie (King) Lanou Patnaude and the late John F. Lanou who was Called Home on April 8, 2007. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from the High School of Commerce in Springfield in 1990 and lived in Springfield for many years before moving to Granby in 2004 where he lived the remainder of his life. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He was employed as a machinist for over 25 years at Industrial Precision, Inc. in Westfield. John loved being in the outdoors fishing, hunting, four-wheeling in his Jeep and attending Jeep rallies, cooking and woodworking. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and many friends. He leaves his loving fiancée, Sandra J. “Sandy” Dufrane of Granby; his two loving children, Kodi D. Lanou and his fiancée, Gillian Guilmet, of Belchertown and Caitlyn I. “Bell” Lanou of Ludlow; his beloved mom and stepfather, M. Virginia “Ginni” (Sullivan) Lanou and Paul A. LaPointe of South Hadley; his dear sister, Amy M. Lanou and her partner, Dillon Herrin, of Monson; his maternal grandmother, Freda Hammond of Springfield; his maternal grandfather, Lawrence King and his wife, Marjorie, of Florida; his former wife, Tracy L. (Levesque) Lanou of Ludlow; his two cherished nieces, Hailey D. Lanou and her partner, Kyle Robert, and Shyann M. Lanou; and his many dear cousins, extended family members and numerous friends. His family will receive friends on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. His burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John’s memory to the Children’s Miracle Network at Baystate Medical Center, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199.
