Delano Padgette 85, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, passed away while surrounded by family, Friday, March 3,2023 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Georgia, from a long-standing illness.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Tim Mock officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his late wife, Thelma Spires Padgette.
Mr. Padgette was born on August 6, 1937, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Luther C. Padgette. He was the youngest of nine children.
Mr. Padgette had worked with the Fitzgerald Auxiliary Police Force where he received a letter from Governor Talmadge for his outstanding dedication and service. He then went on to retire from Elixir Industries. He spent his time teaching hard work to his grandsons, Rob and Andrew, by keeping yards around the community. He also enjoyed gardening and fishing and was a great father who loved his family. Mr. Padgette was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his only daughter, Tracy Michele Heath of Willacoochee; six grandchildren: Dameon Robert Johns of Fitzgerald, Andrew Ripley Johns of Fitzgerald, Lana Kaylee' Michelle Stone of Willacoochee, Nathan Deon, Nicholas Deon and Lilly Grace Heath, all of Willacoochee; three great grandchildren: Ski Laye Johns, Mya Gale Johns, of Fitzgerald and Gabriel Lee Stone of Willacoochee. Also, he is survived by extended family: Donnie Stone, Leigha Kay Stone and Timothy Gage Stone; and his longtime friend, Copper. He was preceded in death by his parents, all with his siblings and his late wife, Thelma Spires Padgette.
