Obituary

CHICOPEE – Kenneth J. “Kenny” Padden, 75, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, March 2, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on October 28, 1947, a beloved son of the late John J. and Martha (Dusseault) Padden. He was raised in Holyoke, graduated from the Holyoke Trade High School and moved to Chicopee in 1978 where he lived the remainder of his life. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Seaman. He received the Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with One Bronze Star, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed for over 40 years and worked in the Quality Control Department at the former Acme Chain Manufacturing Company, now US Tsubaki, in Holyoke. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee and a member of the American Legion Post 266 in Granby. Kenny enjoyed bird watching and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Roberta L. “Bobbi” (Alaconis) Padden. They were married on October 30, 1971 at Sacred Heart Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 51 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving daughters, Amy C. Linehan and her husband, David, of Plainville and Carrie C. Hurley and her husband, Jeremy, of Longmeadow; his five cherished grandchildren, Joseph D. Linehan, Matthew T. Linehan, Meghan T. Linehan, George P. Hurley and William P. Hurley; his dear brother-in-law, Walter Alaconis and his wife, Christine, of Kennewick, WA; and his three dear nieces, many cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his beloved parents, he was predeceased by his dear brother, John “Jackie” Padden; and his dear sister, Patricia Czupkiewicz and her husband, Stanley. His Funeral will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), with a Celebration of Life Service at 9 a.m. His Committal Service with United States Navy Military Honors will follow the Service at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral home parking lot is located in the rear.
