Obituary

Rosetta DeVita, age 82, passed away peacefully at the Lawrence General Hospital on Monday, February 27th. Born and raised in Lappano, Cosenza, Italy, Rosetta was the beloved daughter of the late Antonio S and Nice’ (Scarpelli) DeVita. As a young woman Rosetta came to the United States with her family. They lived in Charlestown before settling in Medford. Rosetta worked for many years with Teradyne Corporation and W.R. Grace and Company.

Rosetta loved her family. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, cooking and sharing meals. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Quiet and patient by temperament, Rosetta had the wonderful opportunity over the years to watch and “babysit” two generations of nieces and nephews. She loved every minute of it and she was adored by all of her nieces and nephews and their families.

Rosetta was the devoted sister of Mario DeVita and his wife Maria of Medford, the late Michele DeVita, Elena Caravetta, Maria Greco, Pietro DeVita and his surviving wife Carmela, Giovanni DeVita and his surviving wife Maria, and Adelina Scarpelli. She is lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.

Rosetta’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday, March 4th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home on Friday 4 – 8 PM.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Rosetta’s name to the National Kidney Foundation, 209 W. Central St., Natick, MA 01760 or to the Carroll Center for the Blind, 770 Centre St., Newton, MA 02158.
