Mary R. (Rosario) Barros, 91, of New Bedford passed away Wednesday February 22, 2023 after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John J. “Bob” Barros; they had been married for 59 years.
Born in Freetown, the daughter of the late Jose H. and Mary (Canto) Rozario, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
Mary enjoyed gardening and baking.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Jean A. Barros and Dolores Barros; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late John Rosario, Albert Rosario, Joseph Rosario, Mae Coombs, Beatrice Lopes, Helen Lomba, and Celia Marshall.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday March 3rd at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Friday morning from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to the Mass.
