Obituary

Craig “Barney” Burnett died peacefully at South Shore Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with addiction on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the age of 49.

He was predeceased by his parents, John “Jack” and Marie (Towler) Burnett, his brother, Bill, his brother in laws, Blair Cox and David Booth.

Craig leaves behind his loving son, Mason, and his mom, Jill. Craig also leaves behind his loving sisters, Marlene Booth of Trion, GA, Carol Cox of Acushnet, and his sister-in-law, Leenie of Sandwich, his loving brothers, James and his partner, Rose Morgan, John and his wife, Rose, Thomas, and his wife Mary all of Whitman, Francis and his wife, Kim of Wareham, and Bobby, and his partner Erin Cullen of Abington. Craig was the goofy, crazy uncle and leaves behind many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly. Craig was also the crazy cat dad… he loved his cats.

Craig was a lifelong resident of Whitman and graduated from Whitman-Hanson in 1991. He worked at the Abington Sewer Department and worked in the construction field.

Craig was an avid New England sports fan and lover of whoopie pies. He took pleasure in playing darts, baggo, camping and loved going to Grateful Dead concerts. Craig had a true gift for making others laugh!

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visiting hours from 3:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, March 2 at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street, (Route 58 at the rotary) Whitman, with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm. Burial will be held at a later date.
