Jerry Joseph Pereira passed away on February 12, 2023, at the age of 65. Jerry’s love and legacy will be felt for years to come through his family. Jerry will be deeply missed by his wife of thirty-nine years, Amanda (Amy) Pereira (Chappell) of Raynham, his daughter Hayley Pereira, and his daughter Hannah Pereira and her husband, Kenji Gueldner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Pereira and Trudy Pereira (Curt); his nephew Ryan Bettencourt; and his in-laws, Raymond and Ruth Chappell. Jerry also leaves behind his loving siblings Debi Cagliostro (Pereira) and her husband, Roy Cagliostro, Skip Pereira, Mary Toulan (Pereira) and her companion, Russell Glen, and Annmarie Sawyer (Pereira) and her husband Chad Sawyer; his brother-in-law Randy Chappell and his wife, Rori Chappell (Gibbons); his sister-in-law Trudy Bettencourt (Chappell) and her companion, Bill Burnett; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jerry was raised in Somerset, MA and spent his adult life in Raynham, MA. He was a firefighter with the Raynham Fire Department for 20 years, then spent the last 18 years working as a member of the Teamsters Local 25 in Boston. He will be missed by the countless friends he made throughout his career.
Jerry enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, cooking, music, gardening, sharing rare craft beers with his family, and woodworking. He celebrated the family’s passion for music – he loved crafting the playlists at family gatherings and listening to family jam sessions. Jerry cared deeply about the environment and was also an avid animal lover, having saved several strays throughout his life. Jerry was well known for his carefully guarded recipes and his love of the Boston Bruins. Above all, he was a compassionate man who cherished his time with family.
