WORCESTER-Mary B. (Drake) Coffey, 87, of 64 Venus Drive died Sunday, June 4th in UMass-Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her daughter Elaine wife of Norman E. Lovely of Worcester, and five nieces, Elizabeth M. and Barbara A. Drake and Mary J. Gadaire all of Worcester, Alina Pagano and Elisa Mills both in SC. Her son, Michael S. Coffey died in 2000 and two brothers, Thomas L. Drake died in 1984 and Alonzo F. Drake died in 1991.
She was born in Holyoke the daughter of Eben L. and Anna J. (Moore) Drake. Mrs. Coffey was a 1937 B graduate of Commerce High School and a 1940 graduate of Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for Memorial Hospital, Doctors Hospital, and most recently at Worcester State Hospital where she worked for 22 years before retiring in 1981. Mrs. Coffey was a member of Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumnae Association, Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association, and a past member of the Massachusetts Nurses Association. She enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling, gardening and was a devoted mother.
The funeral is Wednesday, June 7th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 43 Belmont Street. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, June 6th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
