Obituary

Germanie Herard was born in St. Marc, Haiti to the late Emile Frederic Maitre and Mercelia Maitre. She met her beloved husband Bertaud Yves Herard while teaching at Collège Moderne in Bois Verna, Haiti. They married on April 14, 1969. She worked as Nurse's Assistant at Hebrew Rehabilitation Center for 30 years. She retired in 2002.
Sister Germanie Herard was one of the first and active members of the First Haitian Baptist Church of Boston. She was raised in a Christian home and enjoyed singing in her church’s choir and applied her upbringing to her children as well. She enjoyed music, singing, shopping, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She spent time praising God and fought the good fight of the faith (1 Timothy 6:12). In recent years her health kept her from participating in the activities that she loves. However, she and her husband continued to pray together for their family, church, community, and their country. Her memory will never be forgotten as she left a legacy of her children and grandchildren.
Germanie Herard resided in her home in Mattapan, Massachusetts for over 45 years and passed on to her eternal rest in the arms of the Lord on February 16, 2023, at the age of 80. She was surrounded by her family and friends. She was a devoted and loving wife to Bertaud Yves Herard, the mother to Martine H. Antoine and her husband Carl Evens Antoine; Betty Nazaire and her husband Hilaire Nazaire; Jean Philippe Herard; Ernst Frederick Herard and his wife Nadine Herard. Germanie is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Noah Evens Antoine, Naomi Grace Antoine, Joshua Hilaire Nazaire, Justin Elijah Nazaire, Nathanael Carl Antoine, Amelia Sage Herard, Olivia Simone Herard, Celia Wisdom Herard, Jared Yves Nazaire, Abraham Frederick Herard, Jayden Isaiah Nazaire and other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Germanie'’s visitation on Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the First Hatian Baptist Church, 397 Blue Hill Ave, Dorchester, followed by a funeral service.
Burial will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Roslindale.
