Shirley J. (Santos) Pacheco, 73, of New Bedford died February 18, 2023 peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born and raised in East Freetown, daughter of the late Casimiro and Anna (Dandan) Santos, she lived in East Providence before returning to New Bedford.
She was formerly employed by the Department of Human Services, Office of Child Support Services with the State of Rhode Island for many years until retirement.
She was a member of the New Life Pentecostal Church.
Shirley enjoyed her family, church family and shopping.
She was a graduate of Apponequet High School, class of 1967 and was a member of the reunion committee.
Survivors include her 2 sons, Michael Pacheco, Jr. and his wife Wendy of Fairhaven, and Corey Pacheco and of Burnham, ME; 4 brothers, Casimero Santos, Edward Santos and Sylvester Santos, all of New Bedford and Gerald Santos of Lakeville; a sister, Maria Barros of East Freetown; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Adam Pacheco and Neil Pacheco and sister of the late Rosalyn Santos and Helena "Dolly" Burgo.
Her visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 21st from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 22nd at 11 AM in New Life Pentecostal Church, 789 Main St., Acushnet.
