CHICOPEE – Hector O. Page, 101, a longtime resident of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, February 10, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of his wonderful caregivers and comrades-at-arms. He was born at home in Chicopee on August 9, 1921, a beloved son of the late Edward L. and Anna (Marcil) Page. He was raised in Chicopee and graduated from the former Cathedral High School in Springfield. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and served with the 2109th Army Air Force Base Unit. He received the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the World War II Victory Medal and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was employed as a Firefighter for the City of Springfield and retired with the rank of Captain. He was a longtime communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee where he served his parish for many years as a soloist for many Funeral Liturgies, served on the Parish Council and was the Founder of the 120 Club of the Parish. Hector was a member of the International Association of Firefighters. Most of all, he loved spending his time singing with all of his friends in the Dan Kane Singers. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and soul mate, Eileen J. (Kane) Page who was Called Home on October 31, 1994. They were married on December 7, 1946 at Sacred Heart Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 47 years of happiness together. He leaves his cherished son, Edward; his three loving grandchildren, Amanda and her children, Kurstyn, Grace and George, Jesse and his son, Brantley, and Julia and her husband, Blake, and their daughters, Virginia and Charlotte; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his three dear brothers, Reverend Monsignor Raymond Page, Gerard Page and his wife, Dorothy, and Joseph Roger Page and his wife, Mary; and his three dear sisters, Annette Miller and her husband, John, Lauretta Blain and her husband, Mickey and Rita Ritchott and her husband, Reginald. His family would like to thank the amazing staff and volunteers at the Soldiers’ Home for their compassion and care that they extended to Hector over the many years he lived there. His Funeral will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial with United States Air Force Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to his Mass. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
