Obituary

William D. Pappas, known to all as "Papou", a longtime resident of Worcester, entered into eternal life on February 10, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Billy is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Katina (Simos) Pappas, his son James, and his wife, Lisa (Tomaiolo) Pappas, his grandson, William G. Pappas who was Papou's world, his daughter Dora Pappas; his sister, Connie, wife of Teddy Fotos; his brothers-in-law, Teddy Stratis, Angelo Simos and his wife, Connie, and Kosta Simos and his wife, Litsa; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Kyriakos Pappas, his sister, Georgia Stratis, and his nephew, Jimmy Stratis.

Billy was born in Worcester, the son of Demetrios and Theodora (Chioutsis) Pappas; and was a graduate of South High School in 1955, then earned an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the former Worcester Junior College in 1962. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army as a Field Communications Crewman and later in XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg. He worked for Heald Machine and Raytheon as a Mechanical Engineer until 1974. He then pursued self-employment as an owner of West Tatnuck Pizza, Worcester, MA then on to Heritage Video, Sutton, MA. Billy's life was centered around his family, heritage, and faith. He was a member of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and loved being an Office Angel. He was an avid Boston sports fan and loved the Daily Word Jumbles in the T&G. He will be remembered for his ever present smile and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Willam's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the ACC Building, UMASS BMT Clinic 6th floor for the outstanding care and compassion Billy received while he was in their care.

His funeral is Wednesday, February 15th with his service at 11:00 am. in Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 until the time of the service in the Cathedral the day of the funeral. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family with arrangements.
