Obituary

Mr. Paul “Mac” McAtamney, raised in Andover and a resident of Methuen, took his last breath and passed peacefully at home on Tuesday afternoon, February 7, 2023, at 12:35PM. Even when death is expected, it still hits hard.

Mac was a dedicated worker at Sweetheart Plastics / Solo Cup for over 38 years as a warehouse manager. It was no secret that Solo Cup was my Dad's second family. It's been 15 years since they closed the plant, and he still spoke fondly of his co-workers and their time together. He also enjoyed being a delivery driver for CAPs in Lawrence for well over 15 years and stayed up to date on all the local gossip and area happenings. He always seemed to know the latest news before it hit the News.

He loved to take long drives to nowhere, spending time with family and friends. Mac took great pride in attending his great niece Violette Smith and great nephew Finnigan Smith's school activities and sporting events.

Mac was a hard working man, who loved his family and friends. When someone needed help, he was the first to show up with his pick-up truck. Whenever Mac was missing, we didn't have to look far because he was usually reading his newspaper at Dunkin's or Heavenly Donuts.

Wherever he went, he easily made friends. We never surprised when he took us someplace "new" and at least half a dozen people knew him by his first name when we got there.

“I will forever cherish every road trip and adventure we went on together and all the stories of his somewhat eccentric life that he shared with us”, said his daughter, Heather.

A special thank you to his niece Jenny Smith helping to get him to and from dialysis treatments. And providing his favorite meatball subs.

He was a beloved Father, Brother, Uncle, and Great Uncle.

Mac was the beloved son of the late Eileen L. (Jennings) McAtamney, Richard S. McAtamney and loving husband of the late Mary F. McAtamney.

He was the loving and adored father of daughter Heather McAtamney and her husband Daniel McAtamney of Methuen and step-father of Nathan Tyburczy and his wife Wendy Pavlicek-Tyburczy of Billerica, devoted brother of Richard S. McAtamney of Lawrence, Ann-Marie and her husband Norman P. Giroux of Rockland, Maine, Joan E. and her husband Kenneth R. Provencher of Plaistow, New Hampshire. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Rest in Peace, you are loved and you are missed. A celebration of life memorial will be announced at a later time. His daughter, may be contacted for further information on the event.
