NEW BEDFORD — Elinor C. Frolio, age 80 years, of Dartmouth, died Tuesday May 30, 2006 at Taber Street Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of Stanley F. Frolio.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Elinor was a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy, class of 1943 in Norwich, Connecticut and Colby College, class of 1947 in Waterville, Maine. She and Stanley were married in 1948 at the Church of the Transfiguration in New York City, known as "The Little Church Around the Corner." Soon after that, they moved to this area.
A social worker much of her life, she was employed by the Town of Dartmouth and subsequently the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the period from 1963 to 1990.
Elinor served on the original committee that established St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Padanaram, was a Town Meeting Member, a former member of the New Bedford College Club and was always an avid gardener.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Sara B. O'Leary of Dartmouth; her sons, Charles M. Frolio of Gorham, Maine and David G. Frolio of Marietta, Georgia; a brother, David F. Farnham of Hadley, Mass.; a sister, Jane Wood of Lake Clare, New York; and five grandchildren.
Her memorial service will take place on Monday, June 5th at 11 A.M. in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, South Dartmouth followed by a reception at the New Bedford Country Club.
