In loving memory of (Myrt) Myrtis Alice Chatfield, who was born on March 1, 1927, and passed away on February 2, 2023 at the age of 95.

Myrt was the devoted wife of Larry Chatfield and loving mother of Diane Bergeron, Ernie Chatfield, and Linda Shafer. She had eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Paul Bergeron and his two children John Henry and Jase
Jill (Bergeron) Brodbeck and her two children Samarra and Regan
Michelle (Chatfield) Kudva and her two children Neha and Anu
Christine (Chatfield) Gibson and her three children Sean, Ty, and Luke
Patricia (Chatfield) Jelinski and her three children Alec, Jace, and Tia
Nancy (Chatfield) Silk and her two children Lily and Leah

Myrt was preceded in death by her husband Larry. She married Larry in 1948 when she was twenty-one and they were happily married for 60 years.

She was born in Boston, the daughter of Anna and Albert Hoxie. Most of her childhood and married life was spent in Randolph, Massachusetts. Myrt and Larry moved to Hanson Massachusetts in 1975 after raising their family and lived there for fifteen years. They moved to Waterville, Maine in 1990 following Larry’s retirement. They wanted to be close to their camp on Morrill Pond in Hartland Maine. Myrt often said that the years in Maine were some of the best years of their lives. Because they were getting older and wanted to be near family, they moved into an apartment in Diane’s house in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts in2005.

Myrt and Larry made many close friends everywhere they lived. They were a happy couple who lived life to its fullest. Following Larry’s passing, Myrt continued to be upbeat and positive. Her positive approach to life and life’s challenges are qualities that continue to inspire her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Myrt was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family and others before her own. She was a strong woman who faced life with courage and dignity. She was a source of inspiration to all who knew her and gave freely of her time to church, Rainbow Girls, Eastern Star, and many, many charity organizations, and worthy causes. She was well known for her involvement in church suppers. She loved to cook. She made sure her family had life’s essentials and regularly made homemade meals, deserts, and breads. Getting homemade bread in school lunch boxes was probably envious to others, but her children were a little jealous of the kids with their store-bought bread sandwiches. Myrt took it all in stride and never faltered in giving her love and support. She was always there for her family, whether help was needed with homework or just to provide a shoulder to cry on. She was a woman of strong faith and instilled in her children the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. Myrt was a true role model to her children, family, and friends who looked up to her with dignity and respect.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Myrt will always be in the hearts of her family and friends, and she we will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Rest in peace, you lived your life to the fullest and your journey is now complete.
